President Donald Trump’s biggest campaign promise was to build the wall on our southern border and to greatly strengthen our border security. Since President Trump’s election our border security has been substantially increased. But just having stronger security on the border still isn’t quite enough to stop the thousands of illegal immigrants who come into our country every day. What America truly needs is a border wall.
Security walls are proven to be highly effective. Here are some great examples: Israel was having a major illegal immigration crisis between 2010 and 2012 where more than 50,000 illegal aliens flooded into Israel. Israel desperately needed to stop the flood of illegal immigrants, so they decided to construct a border wall. The wall was fully completed in 2016 and was 99.9 percent effective during it's first year. Subsequently in 2017, according to Israeli government officials, there was not one single illegal immigrant that made it through the border into Israel. The wall cut illegal immigration to zero. We also have several of good examples of walls working here in the United States. According to The Department of Homeland Security, the border wall in San Diego is over 90 percent effective. In Tucson, Arizona, the wall is 92 percent effective. In El Paso illegal immigration dropped 95 percent once the wall was up! And in Yuma, illegal traffic dropped 95 percent because of the wall. Walls clearly work and the statistics show it!
Now that we’ve discussed that security walls definitely do work, let’s talk about why illegal immigration is actually a problem. Surprisingly, some people don’t even see the issue with mass illegal immigration, but I personally believe that it’s a huge crisis. Let’s go through some of the main reasons why mass illegal immigration is absolutely disastrous.
#1. Large amounts of dangerous, illegal drugs are pouring into our country through the southern border every day. Fact: According to the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, 90% of all opioid and fentanyl drugs in the United States comes illegally from Mexico through our weak southern border. President Trump must build the wall to end the flow of illegal drugs.
#2. Drugs aren’t the only thing that’s coming across the border illegally. Guns are pouring in too! Over 2,000 illegal firearms are brought in through our weak southern border every single day. If we build the wall, gun violence and crime will be greatly reduced. The wall must be built to stop the constant flow of illegal firearms.
#3. Major crime is coming across the border! The statistics clearly show that Illegal aliens are committing crimes at much higher rates than natural born American citizens and legal immigrants. According to SCAAP and the Federation for American Immigration Reform, an illegal alien is three times more likely to commit a crime than a legal resident. In some states, like New Jersey, an illegal alien is five times more likely to commit a crime than a legal resident! Gangs (like the horrific, murderous crime and rape gang MS-13) are illegally crossing the border and killing American citizens. Countless Americans are killed by illegal aliens all the time and it must stop. We can prevent these unfortunate murders by building the wall! Rapists are also illegally crossing into our country. It’s a very sad fact that according to the Department of Homeland Security, over 12,000 children are sex trafficked across the southern border every single year. President Trump needs to build the wall to stop the murderers, criminals, rapists, and sex traffickers that are coming into our country. Like it’s been said, if we build the wall, crime will fall!
(Side-note: I just want to make perfectly clear that I’m obviously aware that not every single illegal alien is a criminal or rapist. I actually believe many are just looking for a better life, however, those who are should do so the right way, which of course means legally).
#4. Another huge problem with illegal immigration is the unbelievable amount of money that it’s costing us. According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform, illegal traffic across the southern border is costing American taxpayers over 115 billion dollars every single year. That’s insane! I definitely realize that the wall will cost a lot of money initially, however since it not only stops illegal immigration but also saves taxpayers literally billions of dollars a year, it’s 100% worth every penny that it takes to build.
It’s obvious that we need strong and secure borders to keep our country safe. I support President Donald Trump on building that big, beautiful border wall for the safety and security of the American people. Let’s BUILD THE WALL!
